The Royal George Old Shotton Sunderland Reviews

Went for Sunday lunch with my wife. 3rd visit. We waited 44 minutes from ordering until our food arrived. I could overlooked that as we were not on a schedule. Might have been different if we had been going on somewhere. The lunchtime rush was over, the restaurant was half full. The waitress asked if we needed any sauces. We both asked for English mustard. That never arrived. We had desert. The food was excellent and the portions hugh. I thought the bill was very reasonable. Up until now apart from the wait and the oversight on the mustard I was satisfied. Then a lady in a black and white polka dot top started kicking chairs around. The noise was horrendous and I had to ask her to make less noise. She said that she had a number of tables to prepare and time was limited. I asked her to try and lift the chairs into position as opposed to dragging them. The chairs had those spindley legs with rubber buffers to prevent them slipping. Loved the food, service could have been a little better, cost was very acceptable. The ladies who waited on us were very nice, smiled a lot. Will I go back…….,sadly no. We have both lost out, the Royal George and I.
